Yesterday is Gone 3

Ten(10) A4 prints of archival images on Kyenkyen paper, merge different home spaces in Gulu (Uganda) with the artist’s found home in Kumasi (Ghana), through the exploration of Kyenkyen tree bark.

The collection re-imagines the idea of home through the depiction of domestic familiar spaces and faces, that are interlaced with private portraits of the artist and her daughter. Key developments of the artist's daughter are captured by her siblings, mother, and father, who all are helping to raise her child while she pursues further education abroad. By reproducing archival images on Kyenkyen paper in Yesterday is Gone, Piloya reimagines home through familiarity and private moments of herself and those of her daughter.
