Energise me, please

Abstract expressionism is at the core of all Simone’s work as she delves into the her own sense of self and the complexities of life through colour, form and expression. She believes that layers have the power to create depth and dimensionality. And it’s through layering that she’s able to process the intricacies and narratives of human experience. This abstract artwork delves into the introspective journey of rediscovering energy after inevitable moments of exhaustion (“it’s been a long year as one says”). The mixed-media painting has a rich palette of deep blues, fiery reds, and earthy light and dark browns, capturing the essence of the struggle to regain vitality. There is this dichotomy between surrendering to the peacefulness of simply being and then the vigorous pursuit of finding an outlet (through painting) to rejuvenate her spirit and internal energy.
