Untitled (covered dog)

Around 2015 I made a number of watercolour works in which I tried to capture the idea of our not fully seeing nonhumans, or perhaps not fully acknowledging their experience. This is one of my favourites because of how normal everything feels, although the dog in the image has been covered with what appears to be a piece of cloth. Also, the light feels very strange and otherworldly which I find slightly unnerving. Watercolour often produces such surprises for the artist because of how difficult it is to control.
