In this painting, Mogapi pays tribute to the Nguni cattle breed. The painting is a vivid portrayal of his cherished memories growing up in his home village, where as a young boy, he learned the art of constructing miniature kraals using twigs and stones.
Part of his upbringing was spent entrusted with the responsibility of herding calves and lambs, a task that required an early morning journey to the grazing land. It was during one of these journeys that he encountered a herd of Nguni cattle, with their shimmering colors radiating in the sunlight; that moment remained forever imprinted in his heart. Through masterful brushstrokes and vivid colors, Mogapi immortalizes the memories of his childhood and the enduring love he has for the Nguni Cows.
