Morgan Otagburuagu: In Bloom - A Celebration of Rebirth and Beauty
Doyle Wham proudly presents “In Bloom”, Morgan Otagburuagu’s debut solo exhibition. This powerful collection marks the young Nigerian photographer’s return to his craft after a two-year hiatus following the tragic loss of his parents.
“In Bloom” is about rebirth abd resilience. The vibrant floral imagery symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and death, mirroring the artist's journey through grief and his determination to carry on. The series carries a personal and universal message: the beauty of dark Black skin.
Otagburuagu’s uses this art to confront colourism within the fashion industry, championing the inherent beauty of all Blackness. By collaborating with dark skinned models, he challenges harmful stereotypes and the growing popularity of skin-lightening treatments.
This exhibition offers more than just artwork. During his residency at Doyle Wham, Otagburuagu will lead masterclasses, panel discussions, and even Nigerian-inspired supper clubs. In honor of London Gallery weekend (June 2-4), visitors can become a part of the “In Bloom” series with a custom floral portrait session by the artist himself.
All artworks are available for purchase in the gallery or online. Doyle Wham reinforces its commitment to accessibility with a special, limited-edition print available during the exhibition for £100.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience Otagburuagu's moving work and celebrate the transformative power of art.
