Monochrome Solitude: The Rural Erosion was originally captured in 2017 and depicts an abandoned service station, which currently stands as a silent sentinel to the relentless march of time. Hindle's reflection on the abandoned service station is one of tragedy as the spaces that were once occupied have seemed to fall victim to human neglect and face the judgment of nature. In many ways, the abandoned service station calls for us to reflect on spaces occupied and abandoned as the demand for occupation in different regions of South Africa fluctuates. The photograph is currently available for printing on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper, with white borders.
